2012 started with a friendly Ukulele picnic at UP — twas first time to meet a lot of Ukulele players and enthusiasts. The atmosphere was really cool, though hesitant nature in me hindered a bit of ‘jammin’ experience with others. I brought Shan and Edward to the event - we enjoyed freebies of shirts , stickes, taho, fooooood and foooood and the ukulele smiling people. AND WE CAN ALL play ‘I AM YOURS’ yeah! Finally, I got to meet the UUP admin Jude, Anna and Mackie – certified fun loving peeps. I went home with a few ‘What-If’s and Should have’s’.
So when the opportunity of performing @ CCP Pasinaya Festival arrived, I didn’t think twice to ask the admin if I could join ^^ . There were only few days to practice for this Feb event. Practice sessions for the fest built a special connection among members. Suddenly, it was not just a virtual link through ukulele. Playing ukulele together makes it more solid and real. Suddenly my ukulele has friends ^^ Suddenly, I learned more about the instrument and their human friends. : ) Thanks to Sir Lemuel for making the event possible. It was a sure hit! Made me thirst for more!
Just a few days after, UUP admin had been cooking something really great that I was elated when I received an invitation to be one of the event planners. It was two months ago- and the big event happened yesterday April 29th. [TV break] We also met MCOT staff from Thailand and graced them for a short interview and met old McDonald’s zoo ^^ .The days before the event were a mixture of discoveries, uke jams, frustrations, happy new ukuleles, sad broken ukuleles, freebies, uke jams, coffees, understandings, misunderstandings, uke jams, out-of-town-middle-of-nowhere-backyard-out of the-office meetings. I think the most difficult part of the preparation was NO UKE MEETINGs.or DROP-UKE meetings Heheh.
of course with a little sprinkle of Happiness ~~ we all got what we wanted and realized we could all do it —- together!
PS: felt so lucky to be surrounded with this great bunch of ze planning team!
